As I am sure that many of you or have dealt with addiction in some shape or form, I felt the need to share a brief example of how to best utilize health insurance for alcohol and drug rehab coverage. Until you are personally in this situation yourself, you really just don’t know what to do! I mean, it’s not like you put away a savings for these kind of emergencies!
For this vignette, I chose to share some information coming out of Utah because per capita, they have the most treatment centers than any other state! However, they are also leading the nation when it comes to evidenced-based practices. For these reasons and more, they are the perfect ones to put under the microscope!
Unfortunately, mainly due to the liability and greed (although I can’t confirm or deny this is the case) most all drug and alcohol treatment centers charge outrageous prices! One of the most expensive is Cirque Lodge as they openly share that they cater to celebrities (actors, musicians, atheltes, etc.). One of the more lower cost and client centered treatment facilities in Utah is Salt Lake City Drug Rehab!
They are willing to meet clients on a sliding scale and even scholarship addicts when they have no penny to their name. However, this post is about health insurance and affording it through your healthcare policy. Since the Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA), more and more insurance agencies are dropping out and no longer covering substance abuse treatment.
The ones that are more “user-friendly” are as follows: Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Value Options, Humana, First Choice, UMR, etc.
Currently, if you do not have any of these plans which are mainly seasoned and company related, you do not have very many benefits. However, there does seem to be a loophole when it comes to mental and behavioral health benefits as most all policies cover treatment for those particular reasons.
Another short-term benefit is that of drug or alcohol detox because the insurance plan does not want any liability of drug overdose or death. Conversely, they are also aware that you will not be there for no longer than 3-7 days on average as opposed to residential or even outpatient treatment.
Your best bet is to get with a true addiction specialist like at Salt Lake City Drug Rehab as I have. They are extremely professional and compassionate as well as knowledgeable. For your convenience, I left a hyperlink for you to get ahold of them by within this post under Cirque Lodge Utah. I am not against Cirque Lodge, just wanted to show my readers that helicopter rides and massages does not heal addiction like true methods do!
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them here. Thanks for your time and attention in this matter. I will do my best to get back and respond to each and every response as soon as possible. Have a wonderful day and thanks again for your time.
